Devices for mobile applications come in many shapes and sizes, serving a multitude of purposes: from portable medical instruments to navigation systems for your car. Traditional forms of power management, aimed primarily at laptops and general-purpose handheld systems, fail to address the many unique operating constraints with which these purpose-specific devices must contend. Many of the current standards that address power management, such as ACPI and APM, are also limited in their capacity to harness the extreme power of current generations of embedded hardware.
Join QNX Software Systems and Renesas for a technical web seminar to introduce an application-driven framework for controlling power consumption in purpose-specific mobile devices. The session will feature a presentation from industry analyst Dr. Egil Juliussen, Principal Analyst, Telematics Research Group, on trends and driving forces in automotive telematics.
