Application store technology

The QNX CAR application platform includes application store technology – the first of its kind for the automotive market. This out-of-the box, integrated solution includes an in-vehicle HMI that allows users to select and pay for applications, back-end server infrastructure for delivering them, and download and installation services. It also comes with example applications, including several multiplayer games.

At the heart of this application store technology is another QNX innovation, an HMI framework that uses Adobe Flash Lite. A significant benefit of this framework is compatibility with a substantial number of existing Flash applications. This gives OEMs the opportunity to offer end users numerous choices for customizing their vehicles.
